Lost in Rodney

A historical-fiction story about a river-town in Mississippi that nearly became the state's capitol.

What is this book about?

It’s a first-person time-slip story set in 1863 Rodney, Mississippi.

Modern-day explorer Peter Lycon and the Krewe are dropped into the living river town during the Civil War era—right when Rodney was still a real place with real stakes.

It is grounded in the actual history and physical remains of Rodney.

The town, the river, the churches, and the feel of the place come from real exploration and research. The fiction grows out of a genuine Mississippi ghost town rather than a generic Southern backdrop.

It puts a present-day people into the middle of a dangerous, short-lived boomtown at war.

Peter has to navigate 1863 realities—river traffic, wartime pressures, local people, and the fact that Rodney’s best days were already numbered—while carrying modern knowledge and instincts that don’t always help.
